If I Knew The World Ended Tomorrow, I’d Still Plant An Apple Tree Today.

Berlin has a new mural and we want to thanks everyone involved in making this happen! Situated on top of the roof of a public library, the Herakut piece covers the nine-story-high facade that faces the train station Greifswalder Str. in Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg.
Maybe you remember our post two weeks ago, asking for your help with a translation. The text was a quote by the German Reformist Martin Luther who supposedly said these twisted but hopeful words: “If I Knew The World Ended Tomorrow, I would Plant An Apple Tree Today.” We love the idea – do not want to spend the short time you are given on earth with destruction, spend it helping something small become strong!
In the shortest time so many of you sent us your translation in so many different languages and dialects. It was absolutely amazing for us to see our mural “grow” with all the words you send in. On the wall we had to choose 20 languages, from the many you provided us with and we are sorry we could not fit more. Those translations are, as you will understand, just a symbol for the many minds who think like us, and who believe that we people have to put all effort into creating something positive. It is hard work to be a “gardener”, but everyone wants fruit, right? So, we have to keep planting trees. Thanks, guys, for supporting our cause!
